In 2022, the share of agri-food products in the total export of Ukraine increased to 53% compared to 41% a year earlier, traditionally maintaining leadership in its product structure and reaching its maximum since the independence of our country, noted Mykola Pugachov, deputy director of the Institute of Agrarian Economics, the center's press service reported on February 21.
As M. Pugachov noted, a characteristic feature of the past year for the domestic agrarian sector of the economy was a decrease in turnover in the amount of more than $6 billion year-on-year, as a result of a reduction in both exports and imports.
"And although the figure for 2022 is 15% lower than the record of $27.9 billion in 2021, it became the second largest since the independence of Ukraine," M. Pugachov emphasized
"The strengthening of the European vector in the domestic export of agricultural goods and food led to drastic changes in the rating of the main consumers of Ukrainian food in the world," the expert noted.
In particular, China, heading the TOP-10 largest importers of Ukrainian agricultural products since 2019, in 2022 lost to Poland (only seven in the rating in 2021). In 2022, the value of deliveries of domestic agricultural products to Poland increased more than 2.5 times and reached $2.71 billion. At the same time, Poland's share in Ukrainian agri-food exports amounted to 11.5% last year.
Romania moved to second place last year, with an indicator of $2.557 billion (up 17 times y-o-y) and its share increased to 10.8%.
Turkey became 3rd largest importer of Ukrainian agriproducts, having increased the volume of purchases to $2.212 billion last year (+51% y-o-y). China ($1.888 billion) and Spain ($1.307 billion) were also included at the TOP-5 of this rating.
"The key products of domestic agricultural exports have traditionally been grain and oilseed, vegetable oils, food by-products, as well as meat and by-products, which account for 88% of its value," M. Pugachev concluded.
