Number of ships arriving for loading to Ukrainian ports decreased last week - 14.02.2023

Last week, 25 ships exported 1.1 mln tonnes of Ukrainian agricultural products via “grain corridor” to countries in Africa, Asia and Europe. In particular, 54 thsd tonnes of wheat were shipped to Sri Lanka, 57 thsd tonnes to Bangladesh, and a total of 90 thsd tonnes to Kenya, Tunisia and Egypt, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine reported on February 13.

Compared to the previous week, the volume of exports through the ports of Great Odesa increased by 152 thsd tonnes. At the same time, a number of ships arriving for loading continues to decrease. Last week, only 16 ships arrived to the ports, down from 25 a week before.

A decrease of ship calls is caused by the actions of Russia in the inspection zone in the Bosphorus.

"For the third month in a row, the Russians have purposefully sabotaged inspections under various unfounded and sometimes absurd pretexts. In this regard, as of February 12, 145 ships are waiting in a queue for inspection, of which 122 are heading to Ukrainian ports for agricultural products", – the ministry emphasized.

"We hope that the issue of stalling inspections will be resolved by the efforts of our partners and the entire civilized world. Ukraine has the right to free commercial navigation according to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and the world has the right to uninterrupted access to food. Russia should stop imposing its discriminatory policy on the whole world", – the Ministry of Infrastructure concluded.
