The production of the main oilseed crops may decrease by 25% y/y in Ukraine in 2022 to 17 mln tonnes, oilseed analyst of APK-Inform Svetlana Kyrychok said on September 15 during the international agro-industrial Asia Grains&Oils Conference in Tashkent-2022.
"The sunflower seed market will suffer the most. The planted area under sunflower seed was reduced by 28% this year. The production volume will also be lower. According to our estimates, the harvest of sunflower seed will decrease by 34% to 10.9 mln tonnes, the lowest since 2015", – she explained.
The volumes of sunflower seed processing will fall to the multiyear low in the current MY. Most likely, it will not exceed the result of 2021/22 MY – 11.6 mln tonnes (the lowest since 2015/16 MY).
