Traders resumed purchasing grain in Mykolaiv port - 28.12.2022

According to APK-Inform, some traders resumed purchasing grains in the port of Mykolaiv last week.

"Currently, we do not know when and whether the ports of Mykolaiv oblast will be included in the "grain corridor". However, return of the trade activity is a good sign. Ukraine calls its partners to support the extension of the "grain initiative" into the ports of Mykolaiv and Olvia, however, the UN does not consider it us possible in the near future due to safety issues", - head of local markets department Anna Tanskaya commented.

She pointed that the bid prices in Mykolaiv ate significantly lower compared to the ports of Odess and the Danube due to the low liquidity.

The bid prices of traders for 2, 3 and 4 grade wheat in the port of Mykolaiv totaled 7300-7500, 7050-7250 and 6300-6500 UAH/t CPT-port last week. The bid prices of cirn and barley were announced at 6500-6700 and 5600-5800 UAH/t CPT-port correspondingly. For comparison, the purchasing prices in the ports of Great Odesa for food and feed wheat were announced at 7700-8300 and 6700-7400 UAH/t CPT-port, for corn and barley at 7200-7550 and 6600-6800 UAH/t CPT-port.

Sometimes, the maximum prices of food and feed wheat amounted to 8500-8700 and 7600-7900 UAH/t CPT-port, corn - 7700-8000 UAH/t CPT-port. In the ports of the Danube, the maximum bid prices of food and feed wheat totaled 8800-9050, 7800-8050 UAH/t CPT-port, corn and barley - 8350-8600 and 7100-7300 UAH/t CPT-port correspondingly.

"Currently, companies are moving grain from Mykolaiv by roads and rails. The situation should normalize and the price spread should narrow, if the port of Mykolaiv is included into the "deal", the number of daily inspections by the JCC is increased, "corridor" is functioning smoothly and sea export is growing ", - A. Tanskaya added.
