Ukrainian Danube ports nearly tripled cargo transshipment in 2022 - 20.12.2022

According to Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration, the ports of the Danube (Izmail, Reni, Ust-Dunaisk) processed 14.5 mln tonnes of cargo for 11 months of 2022, which is 2.9 times (+294%) higher compared to the same period in 2021.

In particular, in January-November, the cargo turnover of Izmail amounted to 7.7 mln tonnes (+210.6%), Reni – 6.1 mln tonnes (+508.3%), Ust-Dunaysk – 662 thsd tonnes (+1314 .7%).

Agricultural products (grains and oilseeds) accounted for 6.1 mln tonnes in the total volume transshipped in 2022, which exceeded the figure for the same period in 2021 by 42 times.

"Since the beginning of2022, the export of agricultural products via the Danube ports is about 24% of the total volume of shipments from the seaports of Ukraine. Despite the fact that the ports of Izmail, Reni and Ust-Dunaisk have already used almost all their available capacity, there is still potential for further development. Particularly, modernization and renewal of port infrastructure, attraction of investments for the construction of new terminals, dredging, etc.”, – head of USPA Oleksiy Vostrikov commented.
