According to operational data, the export of sunflower meal from Ukraine in January decreased to the minimum due to the slowdown of the “Grain Corridor” – to 295 thsd tonnes, which is 35% lower compared to December exports and 53% lower year-on-year.
In 5 months of 2022/23 MY the export of sunflower meal from Ukraine declined 16% year-on-year.
At the same time, China remains the leading importer, with a share amounting to 53% in the reporting period.
The EU countries remain the second largest importer of the Ukrainian product (share – 39%), doubling the purchases. In particular, the share of Ukrainian meal in the total import of the product in September-January of 2022/23 MY increased to 54% compared to 37% in the same period last season, which put Ukraine in the leading position as a sunflower meal supplier, thus moved Russia to 3rd place. Argentina is the second largest exporter of sunflower meal to the EU.
